Nidd Valley Road Runners have three qualified Coaches, and two qualified Run Leaders:
Emma David (Athletics Coach, level 2 UK Athletics)
I trained as an Athletics Coach because I enjoy helping fellow runners be the best that they can be. I might not be at the front of the field but have learnt a great deal through being a member of Nidd Valley Road Runners, and I love returning the favour by being a coach. My particular running interests are trail and fell running over longer distances, so I can certainly offer plenty of advice on endurance.
Coaching aims and goals of the club.
As coaches for Nidd Valley Road Runners we aim to help members achieve their individual goals by:
Providing weekly interval sessions over a set period of time.
Offering guidance on training issues.
Offering advice on stretching, nutrition, running kit and events.
We will also be happy to offer advice to anyone requiring help putting together individual training plans.
Winter Intervals have now finished
Through the months of April, May and June the coaches at Nidd Valley will be offering some additional interval sessions. These sessions will be known as Coaches Choice and will run on the following Tuesdays, April 23rd, May 14th and June 11th.
The aim of these sessions is to keep you in tip top shape during the racing season and to fit along side the Harrogate Summer Race League fixtures. All the sessions will be fun and of benefit to everyone, they will start at the Harrogate Hockey Club at 7pm and the content of the session will be decided by the coach.
In July and August there will be a repeat of the popular fell sessions, venues and times tba.
As a way of measuring improvement in performance we are encouraging club members to participate in the Harrogate park run. These are 5km courses which are accurately timed and held every Saturday at 9 am. They are free to enter (register at www.parkrun.co.uk) and are a great way to measure progress.
Please don’t hesitate to come and chat to us about any of your training needs.
